Preparing for Launch

a stack of pocket notebooks viewed from the sideI've been working my way through an ever-growing to-do list for a month: creating product prototypes, designing my brand, registering an LLC, opening a bank account, setting up a website, wrapping my head around sales tax, even getting a separate mailing address and phone number.

Now that October 1 is near, there's both a little and a lot left to do. That's because the list is short (make more product) but the item on it takes a lot of time.

Since I am making everything by hand, I can keep some amount of everything in stock to pack and ship orders quickly, and simultaneously print and restock the things that are selling. The question is how much to keep in stock. Is two of every option enough? Five? Ten? It's hard to tell.

It's been a busy and emotional journey setting up this small business, and while it's a big dream of mine to see this succeed, the dream feels less fragile than when I've tried a similar thing in the past. It feels like this will succeed, instead of success being in question, because I am determined to adapt and stick with it until it does.
